The articles and photos sparked real discussion on living conditions at the time, and the newspaper collected some priceless oral.
There's a very interesting conversation to be had about slum clearance in independent Ireland, particularly in Dublin, in the early decades of the state. The city's Georgian core, particularly on its northside had degenerated by the early 20th century into notorious slums.
